Big Brothers Big Sisters Upper Fraser Valley is proud to provide children and youth mentoring services in our local communities of Chilliwack, Agassiz/Harrison and Hope.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Upper Fraser Valley has been matching children with volunteer mentors since 1969. The girl's mentoring program was started in Chilliwack under Chilliwack Community Services and two programs were amalgamated in the Fall of 2000.

The In-School Mentoring Program was added to the mentoring opportunities in January 2001. This program is a cooperative effort between Big Brothers Big Sisters, the School Districts, local schools, and the communities.  Using the supportive partnership to expand school-based programs, the After School Mentoring program was piloted in the fall of 2004.

The need to provide service to children for whom a one-to-one match was not yet available was the driving factor behind the creation of the Big Bunch program in 2004.  It has been growing ever since, and has expanded to support children on the waitlist in Hope and Agassiz.

The focus at Big Brothers Big Sisters is always on supporting children through positive relationships, and we continue to look towards meeting the mentoring needs of children by developing additional mentoring opportunities.
