
What is the After School Program?
- A volunteer (Big Buddy) and one child (Little Buddy) are matched.
- Buddies spend their time together doing group activities with other matches.
When do the activities occur?
- Happen one afternoon per week, during the school year.
- Occur on the school property, except for special events.
Who are the Volunteers?
- They are at least 16 years old.
- Apply through Big Brothers Big Sisters, attend an interview, and learn Child Safety with a Mentoring Coordinator.
Who are the Children?
- They are typically in the middle years' grades.
- They are referred through participating elementary schools. Teachers can complete a simple referral form.
After School Mentoring allows Mentors to volunteer in a social setting, with pre-planned, organized activities two hours per week.
Enjoyable activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, cooking, science, and games, make After School Mentoring something to look forward to! It fits easily into many busy schedules, and works within the school schedule.
