Envision Financial and Big Brothers Big Sisters Upper Fraser Valley have teamed up to provide a new and exciting program -"Between Generations". Seniors 55 plus have a significant ability to make a difference in the lives of children.
Although all Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are open to volunteers 18 years and older, "Between Generations" focuses on the advantages offered by volunteers 55 years and over. Interesting life experiences, expanded knowledge and skills, and increased stability can make older volunteers the most effective Mentors.
Whether you have one hour, one afternoon, or more, Between Generations offers a volunteer position to suit your needs.
What are your skills? What do you want to do with your time?
- One-to-One Mentoring. Like to do your own thing? In-School Mentoring is just one hour per week, and gives you the freedom to choose your own activities and schedule. You are matched with one child for the duration of the school year.
- Mentoring in a Group. Are you social? Looking to meet others and make a difference at the same time? With After School Mentoring, you are a mentor to one child, but have the chance to take part in activities with other children and Mentors like yourself. There's no pressure to come up with activities...it's all ready when you get there.
